"Daisy Day" wire tutorial by Trish A

This moodboard made me think of daisies..they seem to honour nature..with their brilliant colours and the crispness of their delicate petals.

So although l havent exactly incorporated nature..this is my inpired by the gorgeous moodboard and nature herself.

I started ransacking my stash and sticking it down. I love this style of scrapping as it can use some of those odd things in the piles.

From here l spray painted it all in a light covering of white spray paint...yeah true!

Then the fun starts..

Wire daisy flower.

Ok..some awesome copper wire, l used 18 gauge artistic wire..its lovely to work with, keeps its shape..but is soft enough to bend.

I wrapped a length around this container of handcream and then pulled the circle to elongate it and then bent it to create the petal look.

Then with all my fingers in the right places l used the silver wire to hold it all together.

Then its just a matter of adding it to the background.

A hint of grunge with Trish - Scrapbook Layout

I love the black and white with one other colour.  And although l have been a bit tame with the blue .. l like it with this picture.

My favourite tool would have to be my distressing tool...and very close second is definitely my emery board.  The effect is awesome.

Just add some pressure to the end of the emery board and take as much...or as little of the photographic ink off.

Then its a matter of adding your chosen elements.

I have chosen whipped spackle for a bit of dimension,  some washi and chippy. And some flowers..l am loving these denim flower for a bit of grunge too.

I like how it softens the edges and adds to the texture and feel of the page but also keeps the minimalist feel about it.

Try it for yourself...you may just like it..

Altered Easel tutorial with Trish

Hi Off the Rails fans

Today I'm going to share an altered easel tutorial with you.

I have a few little easels on top of the old dresser in my craft room..(.once known as teenage son's room), and here's another.

Don't walk past the cheap shops..they have lots of goodies that can be altered. 

I found this little blackboard easel.

Firstly l used a paint brush to add gesso...simply because l like the texture.

Then some dylusions ink.. both sprayed on and dripped with the inner tubing.

Then my favourite addition..wire...love the stuff..

I wrap the wire around a thin brush handle and then stretch it just a bit, then loop the other end into a circle.

If you push into the  top of the circle, you create a heart shape.

Play with it until you are happy with it.

Add your wire heart with other embellishments and voila!

So next time you pass by a cheap shop...pop in and buy an easel.

Think outside the box with Trish

You know those gorgeous little boxes some of us throw away...well here's an idea.

I have saved this one and used one of my favourite punches.

Be careful ..some of the more intricate punches may not like the thicker material.

I opened the box out and..  remebering which way you want your punched piece to be..

Punch away.

Then have fun with a new project.

Go on...have some fun...

Using fishing line on scrapbook page with Trish

Hi Crafters

Trish with you today to share a little tip with fishing line.

I find that as much as l love thread..it sometimes doesn't quite give me the look l am after....but fishing line does.

I always use sticky dots for this job, they work brilliantly.

I have started with a bit of inking..some plasterers tape...this stuff is awesome..

And the all important fishing line and sticky dots.

Some sticky dots are really good for rolling into thin rolls.

Some are great for snipping into smaller pieces.

I have adhered the line on top of the plasterers tape..remembering to ensure there is  enough line to be visible under the embellishments. 

I've added some gold metallic thread, the button and other bits and pieces.

Including my fussy cut flower photo.

For this LO l have used some chippy, a hand made flower..not by me.., a calico tag, a bit of stencil work and using the same colour on the ampersand.
