Lisa here to share a layout with you inspired by this month's mood board:

I was inspired by the spring colors and those gorgeous mason jars!

Here is my layout:

I used American Crafts stash for this layout. I didn't have many embellies left, so I challenged myself to create a layout without using many embellies. Fussy cutting is a great way to do this! I fussy cut the mason jars from one of the papers and hung them using hand stitching, from my top border. My title was also fussy cut:

Here I fussy cut the flowers and tag:

I did use a die cut (pineapple), 2 stickers, 3 small puffy stickers and 1 button from my stash for embellies, but the majority of this layout is fussy cutting. I love how it came out.

Next time you are short on embellishments, try fussy cutting!

Hey there Off The Rail fans!
Lisa here today to share a Christmas layout with you. I was inspired by the mood board this month.

I added some mist to the background using the packaging technique. I added a frame and a few layers of patterned paper, stickers and a few fussy cut trees by my photo:

I fussy cut the "Believe In The Magic of Christmas" and popped it up with some craft foam. I added some Divine Twine to pull the layout all together and keep your eye moving:

Friendship and a Butterfly Tutorial

Lisa here today to share a layout and a fun layered butterfly tutorial with you.
I used Shimelle Little By Little collection for this layout:

I fussy cut the flowers from one of the papers. See that cute butterfly? See my tutorial on how to make these later in my post:

I fussy cut a few more flowers, the title "Friendship" and those cute animals from papers in the collection:

Here is another one of the butterflies I created:

Did you notice the words above the photo? I used this tag from a scrub top  and placed half of it under my photo. I covered the words " Tooniforms and Cherokee" with fussy cut flowers. This is a great way to recycle!

Now for my tutorial on how to make the layered butterflies:

I used 2 different butterfly punches and punched butterflies from 4 different papers in the the collection. 

Layer 4 butterflies, all different patterns on top of each other. I stitched through the body part of the butterfly using my sewing machine and white thread, leaving the tails of thread:

Fluff up the wings. Easy peasy! 

These make fun homemade embellies and they are really fast to make!

Lisa here to share my take on the August mood board and to share a fun tutorial with you using Distress Oxide Inks.

 I was inspired by the tribal people and decided to search the Silhouette store for a cut file. I was really surprised at how many they had! I was also inspired by the colors.

Here is my layout:

I added the Distress Oxide inks to my background using the packaging technique. Here is how to do that:

I use an old piece of plastic packaging. I smudge some of the Oxide Ink on the package:

add some water. I use a mist bottle:

smoosh it around and flip over onto your project. I pick it up and do that several times until the color is gone or until I like the results:

Distress Oxide Inks for resist card with Lisa

Hey there Off The Rail Fans!

Do you have any of the Distress Oxide Inks? I recently purchased some and really have been loving them!

Lisa here to share a fun technique with you using them.

Here is the card I created:

I started with a white base and stamped using embossing ink. I added white embossing powder:

and then heat set it:

Using a mini ink blending tool, I added Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink on the outer edge:

Next, I added Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink and then finished it off with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink. I made sure to blend really well in a circle motion:

Next, I took a watercolor brush and added water to parts of the flower to soak some of the color up:

I did a little at a time and blotted it with a paper towel to soak up the color:

This was the end result:

I took it one step further by adding another color. I smooshed the Distress Oxide Ink in Squeezed Lemonade on my mat and misted it with water. This creates a fun watercolor! The more water you add, the lighter the color will get:

Using a small paintbrush, I painted in parts of the flowers with this color:

I took alpha stamps and stamped with archival ink in the center and colored it in with a silver Glitter Nuvo marker. Finally I stitched a small banner and created a wrapped diploma by rolling some paper and tying it with bakers twine.

This was a fun technique to play with!

Adding texture to a scrapbook layout - Tips with Lisa Moen

When I saw the mood board and the texture challenge that went along with it, I thought I would share a few ways to add texture to your project.

The first way is to add texture paste through a stencil. I added watercolors on top to add even more texture.

The second way you can add some texture is by adding some stitching. I hand stitched some rays coming from under my photo"

Another way to add texture is by using embossed diecuts. No embossed diecuts? Make your own by running them through an embossing folder:

I added even more texture here by distressing the edges of my diecut and adding some tangled thread under it:

These are just a few ways to add texture to your projects.

Foil Sheets tip with Lisa Moen

Lisa here today to share a fun technique with you.
Have you ever seen foil sheets in the craft store or online and wondered what to do with them?
I add glue to a cut file and then put the foil on top.
First, here's my card:

Here's a tutorial for you:

Cut your file out on cardstock- I used white cardstock and a Silhouette cut file.

Add a thin layer of glue- I used ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever.

Let dry until it's clear and tacky.

Place a piece of foil on top- foil side up- I used ScraPerfect Transfer Foil.

Using your finger rub the foil over the cut file:

When you have finished, remove the foil sheet:

Here is what my cut file looks like now:

Now you have an embellishment for your layout or card.

Quick and Easy Shaker Card with Lisa

Hello!
Lisa here today to share a fast and easy way to make a shaker for a card or layout.
I used a chipboard frame, added a piece of plastic packaging by stitching them together:

I flipped it over and added some sequins on top of the plastic packaging:

I added some glue to the chipboard frame:

and placed a piece of patterned paper on top:

Just a reminder, that the patterned paper will show through the front of your shaker box window, so choose one that matches :)

Now it is ready to add to your card or your layout.
