Lots of Cirlces

It was so much fun creating this page for my art journal that I wanted to share the process with you. Below are the steps that I took.

1. Using the Kaisercraft 12 x 12 Bubbles Template I created texture with texture paste

2. Once the texture paste was dry I then sprayed water onto my page and used my Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays. I didn't spray them. I took the top of the bottle and used the tube inside like a paint brush. Because I had sprayed the page with water the drops of spray dispersed into the water and spread across the page. Just make sure that you don't have to much water, you can always add more. I used 3 different colours, a blue, a green and a grey.

3. After drying off my page i put a layer of Golden Regular Gloss Medium over it all.

4. Once again I dried of my page and added more colour with my Ranger Archival Ink pads. To get the colour i dragged and stamped the ink pads across my page. Because I used the medium over my page I took that extra time to make sure that my ink was dry, with the heat gun.

5. In my left over scrap draw I found a some a bag with circles and hoops that I had previously cut on my silhouette cameo. I then coloured them with paint (blue), Izink (green and blue), and archival ink (black)

6. To adhere the circles and hoops to the surface i again used my gloss medium.

7. At this stage I knew it wasn't finished so I started playing with my Faber Castell pitt pens by drawing around the edges of the circles and hoops in white and black.

8. This steps was to draw pale green circles all across the surface of my page.

9. The final step was to use my newspaper print stamp to randomly leave the print on my page.

It doesn't matter what colours, stencil, products that you use, just enjoy the journey you go on.

Let's have Fun with Flour

Today Erin is sharing a beautiful layout and a wonderful story about the photos, thanks Erin.

My youngest two children were watching me make dough one day, and they had to join in, so why not - let’s have fun with the flour!!  They loved to roll out the dough, sprinkle out the flour, and I think the best part was just getting messy!!

The challenge inspiration picture was my jumping off point for this layout.  I used the circle in the picture as the frame for the layout, but I did not want all the colors, so I just used the 2 main colors in the pictures, red and brown, but then added in just a pop of blue!!

Even though it is no fun to clean up messy flour filled floors, counters, and children, these moments that I just think "sure go for it" can be the most fun - and make for the cutest layouts!!

Creative Journey...with punched cards...& Lizzy

Hi there, my scrappy friends:)

Today I thought I'd take you on a creative journey...starting with a simple punched card. Even the UN-card maker peeps out there will be able to make these! Then, I'm going to take you beyond to something more;)

OK. I'm sure you've all got a load of punches lurking round...find a shape one - like a circle or square...this technique is best for taller, skinny cards. Do this to your piece of cardstock that you've cut to fit inside front of your card:

Next, take one of the punched out squares & using that STASH, match up 6 patterned papers & cut them slightly bigger than the square. Don't be fussy - you won't see the edges:)

Now simply stick these behind the 'windows' you've created. Here's the back [wrong] side:

And here's the other side, finished...you can add any number of embellies to this basic design:

Can you see I've made my 'window' card stock small enough that another layer fits behind it on the card as well? Soooooo....I quite enjoyed this....& thought I'd do a similar thing with my circle punch for a male card...using the same technique:

Then I got thinking - what if I made my own paper...you know, did a bit of misting over the shapes.....so out came the star punch - this one is an 'around the page' beauty. 

Using some Studio Calico packaging, which has a plasticised surface, I randomly stamped some stars, then misted through the stencil I'd made...

then, there was lots of mist left over, so I stamped that onto another piece of cardstock:

In the middle of doing this, I thought about a chevron mask I have & how these colours would look nice behind some butterflies...so I got side tracked & went & did this:

And even though I wasn't sure whether my butterfly punch would work, I thought I'd give it a shot...it was FINE....so I created this:

I know some of you will go 'Well, you could just punch the shapes & pop them on TOP of the card!' ..but I don't know, I LOVE the dimension, the peekaboo effect this gives:)

Then, I decided to try & use those stars up....so, using the star images, I grunged up this card -- along with some stars punched out from the left over chevron paper:

Isn't is AMAZING where a CAS, punched card can lead you? I hope you enjoyed this little journey through the way my brain thinks & that you can use some of the ideas here....ESPECIALLY if you are not usually a card maker;)
