Working with Fabrics with Carol

Hi, everyone. Carol here today sharing my project using fabric scraps. I have a big bag of them, given to me by a friend who sews alot. I'm so blessed!! :)

"Live Colorfully"

So I made an art journal page with the fabric scraps. I prep the page first with clear gesso (or you can also use white gesso) then added white paint randomly across page. Adhere the fabric scraps with matt gel medium under and over them.  Applied a thin layer of watered down white gesso to tone down the brightness of the fabric scraps.

Adhere the Prima Julie Nutting girl and ephemeras w glossy accent (yup, I use it as glue) and journal my thoughts with sharpie pens.

Hope you like my project. If you don't have fabric scraps, you can also use your paper scraps. It's a great way to use them up. Mix the pieces around and you can create a fun and easy background.

Fairy Canvas with Carol

Hi everyone. Today Carol here sharing a fairy canvas project with you.

"Magical"

I love fantasy stuff like fairy and mermaid!!! So I'm ending 2016 with my fairy canvas project. Using papers from 49 and Market, I fuzzy cut and layered them for a simple piecing project.

The fairy is made with Prima Julie Nutting girl stamp, stamped on patterened papers and adhered together.

For the wings of the fairy, I die cut Sizzix Tim Holtz wings, sandwiched them in between the Art Glitter fantasy film and iron them. Once ironed, the diecut wings will be adhered together. After that, I added another black diecut wing to make the outline of wings more obvious. Love!!!

First time playing with fantasy film and I fell in love!!! Going to get some more other colors.

I folded the leaves etc with tweezers to make them look more natural and pop certain parts with foam tape.

Love the colors of the fantasy film. Translucent with different colors reflected at different angles.

Added some fuzzy cut flowers at roots of tree. Layered them.

Fabric and Paper Mini Album with Carol

Hi, everyone. Carol here today, sharing my project. Today is my home country, Singapore's 51st birthday. So for all fellow Singaporeans, Happy National Day!! Blessed to be able to share my project here today.

I made my first fabric and paper mini album. Been wanting to do one and to try my hands on sewing through both fabric and papers. I used Graphic45 Glided Lady paper collection.

"Glided Lady" Fabric Album

Sewn the album cover with my favorite fabric and lace fabric and a padding inside. Then I sewn laces around all edges. Punched 2 holes in middle, added eyelets and elastic strings to bind the inside pages together.

I used a mixture of fabric and papers and laces throughout the mini album. I sewn the first piece of fabric or paper down on each sheets (both the top and back pages) before I adhered down the rest of papers and laces.

I added a crochet flower that I crocheted, added Prima flower as centre and 2 other Prima flowers to embellish the cover. Pop up the centre cutout with foam tape. Below are all the inside pages.

I'm not a perfect nor experienced seamstress at all. I'm quite an amateur when come to machine sewing. And I used to have a fear for machine sewing. But I'm glad that I managed to overcome the fear. There's many imperfections throughout my album but I love the imperfections. And also love the raw edges of all the fabrics.

So don't be afraid to try new things. I'm glad that finally I done up my very first fabric cum paper mini album.

Gift Boxes with Carol

Hi, everyone. Carol Theng here today, sharing 2 gift sets I made for my church camp. We usually have this "Secret Buddy" game where we leave notes or gifts for our buddy who won't know who we are till the last day. So I made 2 sets of gifts (one set for my buddy and one set for my hubby's buddy).

Cut 2 gift boxes with PapertreyInk die. Stamped and cut the flower and the label. Adhere to boxes.

Included some small gifts inside the boxes.

Made 2 mini albums with Sizzix door die and some leftover papers and Project Life cards. Embellish the covers with flowers, stamped labels and diecut swirls.

Placed the mini albums inside these 2 gift bags and diecut 2 tags with PapertreyInk dies. Wrote some greetings and instructions behind the tags for the buddies.

Watercolor Fairies with Carot

Hi, Carol here today sharing some projects that I have done.

"Watercolor Fairies"

I used watercolor wet on wet technique to create these backgrounds. And sprinkled some white inks on them. Love the mystical sky.

After creating the backgound sky, I painted the ground with black watercolor paint and added the grass.

Painted the chipboard title black.

Stamped this fairy with black ink and added glitter to the wings.

Diecut this fairy and added some glitter on the dots.

For these 2 smaller pieces, I diecut a fairy silhouette frame and pop up with foam tape. One of the fairy's wings didn't get cut out properly so i added glitter to those area. So even if you made a mistake in the diecut, you can improvise and make into something different. Now I like this "spoilt" one even more than the other. I made these 2 to be wall decor pieces. You can also adhere to a card.

Doilies with Carol

Hi everyone. Carol here today sharing 2 cards and a hanging ornament plus a tutorial. I love doily!!! Be it doilies for baking, doily stamps or doily dies. Doily can add a simple feminine shabby touch to my projects.

"Congrats" Cards

I made 2 wedding cards with doily diecuts. Added glitter glue to all flowers.

I pop up the doiles with foam tape to create abit of dimension. These are so easy and fast to assemble.

Die cut the words from foam sheet with Lawn Fawn Congrats die. Layered 2 pieces of the butterfly punch outs.

Love the carriage diecut from Tattered Lace. Colored the Imaginarium Designs "Congratulations" chipboard with Metallic Black acrylic paint.

"Pastel Doily Ornament"

Chinese New Year (an important festival for all Chinese) is coming on Monday and being one who don't like too much red and gold(the "lucky" colors for Chinese New year), I made my own hanging ornament for my home deco. Thinking of using the dream catcher concept. Doilies are the perfect touch coupled with the pink Chinese knots/butterfly ornament. Here's how I made it:

Made the ornament with these 2 dies.

Diecut few pieces of  thin cardboard or thick paper with the Sizzix wreath die. Layered and glue them together to make the solid base.

Use a diecut doily and glue to the wreath base.

Layered another piece of cardboard wreath.

Diecut many pieces (I used about 27 pieces per side x 2 sides) of tiny doilies with MFT die. I used the glassine paper bag as its quite light and thin (looks like the baking type of doily).

Punch holes to add string and Chinese butterfly knots.

Layered and glued the mini doilies around wreath base. I used Aleene's tacky glue for this.

 Lastly I added some Prima flowers.
