Doll House Creation by Carol

Hi, Carol here today. Recently I've been crazy over making doll-houses. So I ordered some doll-house building materials. After being inspired by my friend's nutcracker house, I decided to combine my doll-house love with Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet collection. Ohh... so in love!!

I used a 8.75" by 9.5" wooden box I bought from a local store. With Sizzix Tim Holtz door and window dies. I created a chipboard cover for the house front and used hinges to attach to the box. Also created a porch using chipboards, 3D mega squares (bought many years ago but think now out of production).  I have drawn and hand sewn the red stocking and filled it in with polyfill and one resin toy.

I made 3 small boxes from scratch and filled one of them with some sequins and beads and cut outs.  I love the mouse king and nutcracker cut outs from Graphic45 paper. Its like the mouse king is planning to "climb" over the boxes to harm the nutcracker.

I cut out the banner and added glitter to the wordings. I love how it sparkles. I also added a Dusty Attic chipboard border behind the banner. I changed the color to gold with Viva Decor Inka Gold. It's such an easy medium to use.

I glued die-cut leaves and punched a grass border to the "pillar" below the porch. I love the vivid colors of Graphic 45 Nutcracker papers.

I positioned the nutcracker cut-out just beside the window to create the impression that he's looking in at Clara holding the nutcracker toy.

I loved the Sizzix door and window dies. I've been waiting and planning to use them to make a doll-house. I used hinges for the door so I can open it out to reveal the inside.

In the inside wall where the door is, I added wood trimming around the door.  For the floor, I glued strips of wood onto some chipboard and painted it white, leaving some area unpainted so it can be more shabby looking. Here you can see 2 pink drawers at the bottom of the floor. One bigger drawer is to house the battery box for the Tim Holtz lantern. The other is for any embellishments for the dollhouse.

I also added a wall lantern to give more light.

I made the white table from scratch, using soft wood sheets, wood strips and legs and handle (bought for miniature dollhouse's use).

I added a clay mirror, metal merry-go-round charm and a small Christmas tree on the table.  For the girl, Clara, I glued some folded acetate to it so it can stand.

For the fireplace, I used Prima resin. But as its only the top part of fireplace, I added 2 strips of wood to extend it. Also added a Dusty Attic chipboard border. The red trolley and gumball machines are bought too. Love!! They fit nicely.

And here's the sideview of the Nutcracker house.

I hope you enjoyed this project. You can join in with our November's challenge. This month's sponsor is Graphic 45. Yummy prize!!

Thanks for dropping by.
