Reworking an Old Project

Hi, OTRS friends, Carol here with you today. Have you ever rework an old project after some time? Well, I do. At some point in time, I look back at my old projects that I'm not so satisfied with and thinking to dump it or alter it. And all the time I chose to alter it. So today I want to share how I altered one old project.

I made this 12 by 12 inches canvas for my brother's wedding as guest book signing but ended up not using it at all.

When I started out altering it, I had no idea how it would turn out. There's no planning... I only know I want to use the lovely Graphic 45 papers, "Once Upon A Springtime" collection and I want to create a secret faerie garden. And here's the result:

"Secret Faerie Garden" Canvas

I cover the whole surface with gesso, then adhere Graphic 45 papers (tear out parts of it) and Tim Holtz tissue paper with multi-medium. Also adhere down a cut out lace applique and gesso over it as the original color of lace is dark brown. Then I spread Golden fiber paste over the heart shape randomly and spray Prima bloom spray and Tattered Angels glimmer mists. I misted the surrounding "wall" with darker mists to create the tattered bricks look. I outlined the heart shape with pencil, rub over and go over with Faber Castel Pitt pen. Randomly added green paints at the bottom with palette knife before dry brush the sides with black acrylic paint.

I cut out the flowers and faeries from Graphic 45 papers, inked the sides with distress ink and adhere down (some with 3d foam tape) to create dimensional effect. Added some metal gears too.

I bought some real treated wood twigs some time ago. Broke them in smaller pieces and added to bottom of canvas. The leaves are die-cut with Sizzix Tim Holtz die, scrunched and inked with distress ink before adhere down.

I colored the Blue Ferns swirls chipboard with Viva Deco Inka Gold. Love the swirl chipboard. Don't it follow the curl of the top part of heart shape?

Well, I hope you enjoy my altered canvas. Do join us in this month's challenge and our sponsor is Graphic 45!! Have fun!
