Hi there, my scrapping friends! Lizzy with you today to show a step by step of an art journal page I created using some of this month's sponsor, LAWN FAWN, goodies. Namely, the die cut CLOUDS & SUNS...plus those cute hot air balloon stamps:)
I actually created this for a challenge last month....& I wanted a
light, whimsical look for this page - & I wanted to NOT do lots of
texture on the background - which is the way most Mixed Media is atm. I
wanted to do something different.....so, are you ready to take the
journey with me?
Here we go!
Besides the elements from Lawn Fawn
- I had no idea what to do, except I wanted the blue colours & to
make the hot air balloons the focus. So, I dragged out some paper scraps
& laid them on my pages:
I covered my balloons, suns, clouds & the ink run paper, that I
fussy cut with CLEAR liquitex....so when I added my background colour
[made up of those 3 mediums bottom Left....because I had a bit left of
each, so I decided I may as well mix them!!!] ...so they would not get
'absorbed' into the back ground!
Can you see the pale blue? Sort of blends in the paper, but still gives a
bit of depth. The clouds have been stamped with StazOn [so it doesn't
run when you add other wet mediums], then coloured with Gelatos. Around
the clouds I've added Glimmer Glaze for a bit of sheen & softness.
By this stage, I'd worked out the ink splat cut out, bottom right, looked like trees....so I thought the saying 'You can't see the trees for the woods/forest' might work....& then add....'so look up & fly'.....that just came to me as I was plodding away....so...on went some yellow...less at the bottom of the page, more up the top to reinforce that idea. Gelatos rubbed in with my fingers, again:)
Next I coloured in my balloons, using Staedtler pens....the
alphas....black gelato around the bottom clouds, with some rain drop
stamps.......Here's some closies & my finished pages:
And the eyes in the title just 'came' once I'd popped on the alphas...I
LOOOOVE how scrapping simply develops as you go.....well, with me it
does, anyways!!!! Thanks for looking - & I hope you can see how Lawn Fawn goodies can be used in different ways, too:)
Happy Scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
