Using the Negative pattern for a quick Background with Narelle

Do you just throw away the bits and pieces left after you have created a card? And what about the pieces of card stock that you have die cut out of. Do you throw them out as well ?

I don't believe in wasting a thing. You should see my scrap box. It is over flowing. I am sure there is  more than enough in there for all the punched flowers I could ever want to make..lol

Today I wanted to show you how easy it is to make a quick background with the negative pattern left behind from a die cut. If you remember my recent layout that had some of the flowers from the Botanical Builders framelits, you may remember the centre of some of the flowers. After I had cut out the shapes I looked at the piece of card stock I had used and noticed that I had done a great job of lining up the dies. I thought it would make a great template for some sponging. So I created a pattern with it on a card front.

Using the Negatives - Off The Rails Scrapbooking - Simply Stamping with Narelle

As you can see it created a lovely pattern. Here is how I did it.

This is the piece of card stock that I used to cut out the centres of the flowers for my layout.

Don't ask me how I got them cut so evenly, I think it was more luck than skill.

All I simply did was place it onto the card front and started sponging.

Often we overlook the obvious. So next time when you are finished with a project and cleaning up, have another look at what you are about to throw away and see if there is another use for it.

I hope you get some inspiration from this technique and try it some time soon.

Thanks for popping by.
Have a great day.
Cheers,
Narelle
